How it works

01

02

Edit directly

Crop an image, reorder PDF pages, reformat a document, fix a spreadsheet cell — all with instant visual feedback.

03

Download the result

Export in the original format or a related one. Nothing is uploaded at any point in the process.

Frequently asked

Can Editly edit the actual text inside an existing PDF, in place?+

Not the original text layout — no browser-based tool can reliably rewrite text inside a PDF's content stream while preserving the original fonts and formatting. Instead, the PDF editor lets you add new text, watermarks, and annotations on top of the page, reorder or delete pages, and — separately — extract all the text to a plain editor and rebuild a clean new PDF from your edits.

Is Editly free?+

Yes, every tool is free with no account required and no limit on how many files you edit.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?+

No. Every edit happens in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. Files are never sent to a server.

Will editing a DOCX file preserve all my original formatting?+

Common formatting — headings, bold, italic, underline, and lists — carries over both ways. Advanced formatting like tables, custom styles, and embedded images is not currently preserved on export.

What image formats can I edit?+

PNG, JPG, WEBP, BMP, and GIF (as a static image). You can crop, rotate, flip, apply filters, draw, and add text, then export as PNG, JPG, or WEBP.
